New Business Launch FAQ
Questions about launching
If your question isn't here, get in touch. Happy to talk through your idea, however early it is.
How much does a launch package cost?
It depends on the scale. A sole trader who needs a name, a logo and a holding page is a very different job from a team that needs a full website and several laptops set up. Book a free consultation and I'll give you a clear quote for exactly what you need.
Can I choose just some of the stages?
Yes. Some people already have a name and logo and just need the website and email sorting. Others are starting from nothing. The package is built around where you are. If you're doing some of it yourself, here's
the order I'd do things in.
Do the name checks mean the name is legally clear?
No. I check domain availability, Companies House and the UK trade mark register, and search Google for anyone already trading under the name. That catches the obvious clashes, but it isn't legal advice. If the name is central to your business, I'd recommend a formal trade mark search or registration before you commit to it.
Do you work with businesses outside Sussex?
Yes, for most of it. Naming, branding, the website, domains and email can all be done remotely, anywhere in the UK. The laptop setup is done in person, so that part is for businesses in and around Sussex.
Which email provider should I use?
Whichever fits the way you work. Microsoft 365 suits people who live in Outlook, Word and Excel, while Google Workspace suits people who prefer Gmail and Google Docs. Other providers can work out cheaper for very small setups. I'll talk you through the options and set up whichever you choose, with the same email authentication either way.
Will I own everything at the end?
Yes. Your domains, email account, hosting and brand files are set up in your name, and the handover document records every account and login. Nothing is locked to me.
How long does it take?
It depends on the scope, and on how quickly we settle on a name and logo - that's usually the part that takes the most thought. I'll give you a clear timeline in the consultation before anything starts.
What happens after launch?
That's up to you. You can take it from there with the handover document, or I can look after the website with a monthly hosting and maintenance package, and help you get found with
local SEO and a well set-up
Google Business Profile.
